Course Work
Work that I did in 2021 as part of the costume design class I took, instructed by costume designer and professor Kendra Johnson. This was my introduction to costume design.
The House That Will Not Stand
A play written by Marcus Gardley, set in Louisiana in 1836. It was a great play to practice designing historical costumes. I really enjoyed learning about historical garments and their variations among class, race, and situation. In this play, the main characters are wealthy creole women who are in mourning.
Romeo and Juliet
For this version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the concept given to me was a dystopian world with feuding families, set in an urban wasteland. Some of the slides feature pictures of actors, a theoretical cast for the assignment.
Eurydice
Written by Sarah Ruhl. For this script, I was given freedom in terms of the concept. I chose 60’s silhouettes, though I cannot remember my reasoning why. I had fun coming up with concepts for the stones, inspired by different rock textures found in nature.
